grief & loss

Grief is love with nowhere to go — you don't have to carry it alone.

There is no right way to grieve

Grief arrives in many forms — the death of someone we love, the loss of a relationship, a change in health, identity, or the future we imagined. However loss has touched your life, your grief makes sense, and it deserves space to be witnessed and honoured.

Heather is a specialized grief & trauma therapist. Her own journey through loss, grief, suffering, and joy has been integral to her understanding of the significance of counselling — and she brings that lived compassion to every session.

Together, we create space where you feel seen, held, heard, and less alone — moving at the pace your grief asks for, with curiosity and gentle kindness.

"To live in this world, you must be able to do three things: to love what is mortal; to hold it against your bones knowing that your own life depends on it; and, when the time comes, to let it go, to let it go."

— Mary Oliver, In Blackwater Woods

tending grief

Tending Grief is Heather's specialized grief offering — created from her belief that grief is not a problem to be fixed, but something living that asks to be tended. It is intentionally different from counselling: extended 90-minute sessions that give grief the unhurried space it needs, blending attachment-focused, somatic, and experiential work with meaning-making and ritual.

arriving

We begin by creating safety — for your story, your body, and the weight you carry. We slow down, settle the nervous system, and honour where you are, exactly as you are.

tending

Together we turn toward the grief itself — with somatic and experiential approaches, gentle processing of the events surrounding your loss, and space for the love that lives inside the sorrow.

integrating

Grief doesn't end; it changes shape. We work on carrying your loss and your love forward — finding meaning, re-entering life, and continuing the bond in a way that honours both of you.

Tending Grief sessions are 90 minutes of client time. Reach out to explore whether this offering is right for you.

Attachment-focused, body-aware grief support

Heather's grief work brings together attachment-focused therapy models with relational, experiential, and somatic evidence-based modalities — including AEDP and, where helpful, EMDR to gently process the events surrounding a loss.

Grief counselling can support you through: the death of a loved one, anticipatory grief during illness, sudden or traumatic loss, loss within the family and its ripple effects, separation and relationship endings, and the quieter losses of life transitions.
